Chefs Association of Malaysia

Mr. John Yong

Having developed his intense interest in caving since childhood, John began his career in this field with Genting Highlands Hotel in the late 80’s prior to him joining Crowne Plaza Mutiara Kuala Lumpur, the then Hilton Kuala Lumpur, in 1991. Still serving Crowne Plaza Mutiara Kuala Lumpur until today, John is responsible for the hotel’s entire food & events set-up.

In the past 18 years, John took part extensively in carving competitions and to conduct demonstrations & courses, locally and in overseas to Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Fiji Islands, Paris, Luxembourg, Canada, and Salekhard, Russia – the only city in the world located on the Polar circle.

With true passion in arts and carves, John envisions to transform the landscape of local carving profession by raising its standard, skills and techniques among his Malaysian comrades to greater heights, comparable with the many experts from other parts of the world.

Today, young chefs in the country are fortunate that our senior professional chef members of the Chef Association of Malaysia (CAM) have showed immense commitments to work through a path for success, in the culinary skills as a whole, not only a dream but a reality.
